But does it really matter whether the melee was over race? It was a melee that reflects a cultural disconnect.

Four years ago in 2001, the anti-Semitic website La Voz de Aztlan had this to say about Villaraigosa: Click here.  Now that Villaraigosa has won in 2005, La Voz de Aztlan has this to say: Click here -- an indication that among some activists, it's race "uber ahles."

In his recent campaign, Villaraigosa, by wooing the middle class, got poor east side Latinos mad at him for neglecting them and they aired their frustration when John Kerry endorsed Villaraigosa at Valley College on April 30, 2005: Click here.

Endorsements for Antonio Villaraigosa came from the usual endorsers like the teachers union, John Kerry, and array of liberals -- and some endorsements from the most unlikely endorsers such as the Los Angeles Daily News, L.A. Sheriff Lee Baca, Republican Hugh Hewitt, and many more prominent Republicans  -- and the list goes on -- not because they love Villaraigosa, but because they can't stand Hahn.

WHY ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA WON (or more accurately why JAMES HAHN LOST)
It wasn't so much that Villaraigosa presented a great plan to fix L.A., but rather that Hahn's horrible record as mayor made him an easy target for criticism -- as if Villaraigosa, had he been mayor, would not have screwed up in the same way. In fact, both of their politics are clones to each other.

When I majored in electrical engineering, in a course called "The Problem of Problem Solving," I learned that to solve a problem, you had to first recognize and define that problem and its cause. So what are the problems in L.A.? How about crime, traffic congestion, overcrowded failing schools, bankrupt hospitals, racial bickering, the need for low cost housing, pollution, trash disposal, potholes -- just to name a few issues of concern. Neither Villaraigosa nor Hahn have identified the cause of these problems -- nor have they identified themselves as being a great part of the problem itself.

It is apparent that for almost every one of the said issues, the problem is caused by the policy of the city of Los Angeles to import poverty. And both Hahn and Villaraigosa's agendas encompass city ordinances and policies that are virtual magnets to attract third world poverty stricken illegal aliens.

Los Angeles has become a city which is socioeconomically separated by class: The wealthy "gated community" types, The middle class, and the imported poor (who supposedly do the work that the other two classes won't). As more and more incentives are offered for the imported poor, that class is growing while the middle class is dwindling. According to recent newspaper reports, there is a large exodus of the middle class offset by the influx of the poor. In other words, Los Angeles is loosing the tax paying middle class while gaining the tax consuming poor class (illegal aliens). While there is an illusion by the middle class that illegal labor makes our products and services "cheaper," that middle class is virtually subsidizing the real benefactors of illegal immigration, the employers who do not pay for the health and other social benefits for the illegals they hire. That obligation is instead passed on to the middle class tax payers -- a sweet deal indeed (for the employers).

In a city where the median price of a home is now over $400,000 and rent for a decent two bedroom apartment is $1,200 and up, it can only be concluded that the imported poor with meager earnings are living in sub-standard conditions. Instead of recognizing that by importing the poor, the city is actually the cause of the housing crises (supply and demand), the solution by both Hahn and Villaraigosa is to provide tax payer provided low cost housing which in itself is a magnet to further attract hoards of illegal aliens.

Let's make some comparisons between Hahn and Villaraigosa:

Both support Special Order 40, the police mandate that does not allow officers to determine the immigration status of illegal alien criminals.

Both support Matricula Consular IDs for illegal aliens.

Both support driver's licenses for illegal aliens.

Both oppose cooperation with the federal government to identify criminal aliens for deportation.

Both support NOT enforcing the law against illegal vending.

Both oppose enforcement of zoning laws for illegal aliens.

Both refuse to repudiate MEChA or the anti-Semitic MEChA offshoot La Voz de Aztlan.

Both refuse to lift a finger to put pressure on the Mexican government to extradite over 300 criminals who have murdered in Los Angeles County,  who have been given sanctuary in Mexico by that government which refuses to return them for trial in the U.S.

Both support city funded day labor centers for illegal alien laborers who, along with their employers, don't pay taxes.

Both support the Los Angeles Office of immigrant Affairs which makes no distinction between legal immigrants and illegal aliens.

Both support the voting and office holding by illegal aliens in Neighborhood Councils -- even though the city charter specifies that the purpose of Neighborhood Councils is "To promote more citizen participation in government..."

WHY PICK ON VILLARAIGOSA?
I have been asked why, if both Villaraigosa and Hahn are political clones of each other, I chose to criticize Villaraigosa over Hahn. I did so on the assumed outcome that Villaraigosa would loose the mayoral election to send a message to future mayoral candidates that the issue of illegal immigration which is destroying Los Angeles, must be dealt with. There would have been no point in criticizing Hahn just to have Villaraigosa win, as that would be a kind of endorsement of Villaraigosa.

ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA'S PROMISES
More police officers
On this promise, Villaraigosa must deliver or he will be finished before he starts. But don't expect crime to go to 1970's level, as L.A. needs less criminals more than it needs more cops. If the new mayor doesn't cooperate with the federal government to rid L.A. of known illegal alien criminals and gang members, it would be like continually mopping the floor instead of fixing the overflowing sink's leak. L.A. county has at any given time a large jail population of (about 25 %) illegal alien criminals as Sheriff Lee Baca's own study shows, that could be turned over to the ICE for deportation -- even if no crime can be proven against them with the added bonus of no prosecution or court trial necessary.
Don't expect Villaraigosa to reduce crime even with more cops.

Reduce Gang crime
The majority of gang crime is committed by illegal alien gang members. Villaraigosa on the  Doug McIntyre Show when he was asked about illegal alien gang violence, refused to comment and said to McIntyre that that kind of a question was inflammatory. So how will Villaraigosa fix the gang problem? With gang-intervention programs of course. While gang-intervention programs may be a good thing, it should not be the job of American tax payers to pay for the rehabilitation of illegal alien gang members -- they should be deported to their own country for rehabilitation. Moreover, gang-intervention programs already tried time and again did not fix the problem.
Villaraigosa will fail in this promise.

Fix Traffic
Villaraigosa has promised to fix traffic as one of his staff advertised at a rally in studio city. There is no major city in the world such as New York, Tokyo, Manilla, Tel Aviv who have been able fix traffic congestion. Traffic congestion is caused by too many cars on the road at the same time. And record number of arrivals of illegal aliens are the greatest contributor to more (uninsured) cars on our streets.
Villaraigosa will fail in this promise.

Fix a broken LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District)
You've heard about it. Overcrowded classrooms, student failure, dropouts, school crime, school race riots... LAUSD was once the finest school district in the U.S. It now ranks among the worst. School officials will tell you that LAUSD's academic scores are on the rise. But what they won't tell you is that don't average in the zero scores of the 33 percent of LAUSD students who drop out -- mostly illegal immigrants or their first or second generation offspring.

Using LAUSD's method of keeping score, I could prove that people lived longer in the 17th century than they do today if I didn't count all those who died (dropouts) before the age of twelve.
Villaraigosa will fail in this promise.

WHERE TO FROM HERE
I will be rolling over the Citizens against Villaraigosa for Mayor non-profit Political Committee to a non-profit Political Action Committee (PAC) on a city level. At any later time, the PAC can be upgraded to the county and/or state level, but for the present, LAwatchdog.com will focus on local issues. The official name will be the familiar LAwatchdog.com. This will allow all left over donations, assets and paper work from one committee to be easily transferred to the other. As a PAC, we will take on certain political issues; and support or oppose candidates.

LAwatchdog.com will be watching Antonio Villaraigosa to report on his "progress." We will focus on issues directly related to illegal immigration such as Special Order 40, Matricula ID's, illegal street vending, etc.

The next campaign that LAwatchdog.com will undertake, will be to challenge the city's opinion that illegal aliens are entitled to vote and run for office in neighborhood councils even though the city charter's definition of the purpose of neighborhood councils is to "promote more citizen participation in government..."

Hal Netkin will produce a weekly or biweekly cable show which will feature guests of interest. And because not very many people watch those "obscure" cable shows, I will post them on our web site for all to see -- even those who don't subscribe to cable.

And of course, I will continue to keep the telephones broadcasting on whatever is the "issue of the day."

SPECIAL THANKS
Special thanks to all who have donated to the campaign. It didn't turn out the way we wanted, but I'm not jumping ship and humbly ask for your continued_support.

Re "New era for L.A." (May 19):

...calling Villaraigosa's election a "triumph" is way too big a hammer for the job. I wouldn't be holding a nail for him if he can see a "triumph" in an election where less than 20 percent of the registered voters actually voted for the winner.

When more than two-thirds of an electorate sit out an election, it speaks not of triumphs, but of, at best, how little difference the vast majority could discern between the candidates, and, by extrapolation, how little difference the outcome would make for the impending implosion called Los Angeles. At worst, it means the majority have already mentally packed their bags and have emotionally moved out. I fear it's time to plow it all under and start over.

May 20, 2005:

Dear Friends:

I couldn't have said it better than this May 20th letter to the Daily New
Out of a city of 4 million, 260,000 votes elected Villaraigosa mayor. In other words, 6.5 % of the population of Los Angeles decided its future. Los Angeles will now be ruled by Antonio Villaraigosa, the MECHista mayor who virtually takes his orders from Mexico City while trying to please every faction of L.A.'s people.

Part of Villaraigosa's campaign rhetoric was to bring all diverse groups together. But he may find that the existing division between the races will be his undoing.

From the Daily News:
On the morning after his election victory, Mayor-elect Villaraigosa faced his first tense challenge when he arrived at Taft High School where fights among several students prompted a massive police response and brought dozens of worried parents rushing to the campus.  Villaraigosa arrived in the midst of the uproar and was told by school officials that there were a few small skirmishes and several minor injuries but race was not a factor in what happened. But Carletha Lee, whose niece and nephew attend Taft said, "We clearly know that's not the case. They want to say it's not racially motivated. Yes, it is."
